Republicans vs. Democrats
A Personal Opinion
Characteristics
Democrats are the party of careful consideration, sensible compromise, lofty goals for the common man and equality with the desire for a more fair, almost utopian society. They wish to bring together all people with unity and without ill will toward one another. They believe in progress and widespread possibility for everyone in the country to achieve their own American dream. They want the country to build and update its infrastructure, students to be relieved of a lifetime of college debt, financial help for daycare, a realistic minimum wage, guaranteed, universal health care, affordable housing, clean air and water, conservation of the forests, equal and fully accessible voting, and fair treatment in the justice system with at least a balanced Supreme Court that reflects the country at large.
Republicans are the party of anger, relentlessly insulting everyone (even each other), without ever solving serious issues for the benefit of all. Their goals are to be gleefully antagonistic to anyone who is not what they view as a mirror of themselves: white, male and rich, richer or richest. In a reality that they do not try to hide, they cater only to the constituents at the top of the economic pyramid and they listen especially to the one percent. If the other side (almost any other side) wants something, Republicans automatically won’t give it, even if Republicans originally came up with the idea (for example, the Republican health care ideas that resulted in the Affordable Care Act). They fight student loan relief and increases in the minimum wage that merely keep up with inflation. They want federal lands to be open to exploitation by private corporations who will plunder irreplaceable resources for profit. They want only Republicans to vote and they will no longer accept defeat even if they lose by hundreds of thousands or even millions and millions of votes (as happened in the 2020 election). They will pretend to be in total support of evangelicals while their leaders violate every biblical commandment including abstaining from adultery, not stealing and not killing.
Democrats tell you that they can make a far better world.
Republicans tell you that they are simply better.
Past vs. Present vs. Future
Democrats say that change is desperately needed and in the near future we will solve many problems if we just try. Republicans say change is terrible and we must return the present to the past.
To Republicans, the country was undeniably great during the superior (for whites) days of slavery, which can be explained away or justified as an economic requirement for the times. They have no real problem with it and they will disagree vehemently with anyone who thinks the country should recognize its awful, cruel and inhuman sins, feel even modest guilt and regret those actions. Instead, Republicans believe that the Confederate flag and statues should always remain on display and celebrated as symbols of cherished white heritage. They are intent on legislating out of existence any non-sanitized mention of black history in education if it makes anyone who is white feel the slightest discomfort.
Communications and Marketing
Republicans are masters at controlling the conversation. They say things that, upon the slightest inspection and fact checking, don’t make any sense or are outright lies, as long as it will help them reach their goals. They say whatever is needed to get the votes of their xenophobic, racist audience, and they intentionally stoke hatred. The Republican base eagerly buys into what is demonstrably against their own best interest, for example, the Republican determination to take away health care including coverage for pre-existing conditions, to privatize Medicare and to reduce Social Security benefits.
Democrats choose to react only and never lead with the same zeal as Republicans. They do not answer insults and attacks from their opponents, preferring to turn the other cheek as if by doing so they won’t keep getting slapped and repeatedly beat up. Democrats have almost never mastered the sound bite which distills their point into a succinct, easy to understand message. They haven’t made clear and readily agreeable who they represent and what they believe. They never stand super tall and hit back with total conviction with the best marketing and advertising. They have never organized a rapid, effective counterpart to Fox News nor a widely viewed media outlet with Fox's reach.
Republicans have a tried and true marketing plan, with years of experience in spreading their message. They are manufacture crystal clear slogans, regardless of how totally meaningless they are, because their subliminal shouting works. They constantly offer someone to blame — blacks, Hispanics, China, immigrants, women, gays (or any LGBTQ+ members), Democrats, liberals, progressives, etc. — to their voters. Code words and dog whistles that everyone understands have become the slogans they broadcast with honor. They know that their faux patriotic, screaming obstructionism appeals to their base as long as it is understood as “us” vs. “them”.
Fear and White/Wealthy/Male/Christian Victimization
Republicans tell wealthy white guys who are the CEOs of corporations that not only are they underappreciated, they are actually the victims of gross and severe reverse discrimination. They claim relentlessly that tax cuts for the rich, who have been profoundly mistreated, will pay for themselves although it has been demonstrated over and over again that they don’t and the cuts only result in huge deficits. They believe in helping extremely rich people get much richer and in giving banks and corporations tax-free and rule-free trips to outsized profits, or bailing them out if they screw up.
They tell gun lovers that Democrats will take away their guns no matter how much everyone with half a brain knows that is never going to happen in the United States. They do nothing when mass shootings happen over and over and over again except recommend that Americans should be allowed to buy more guns and openly carry them without universal background checks. They refuse to outlaw assault weapons which have literally no use as sport or hunting rifles and are designed solely to kill as many people as possible in the shortest time.
Republicans whip up evangelicals into a frenzy with absurd statements that their opponents are taking Christmas away and eliminating Christianity in the country. They sympathize with and embrace the “rights” of white supremacists and neo-Nazis, who openly display their racist tattoos and guns, preferably semi-automatic assault rifles.
Democrats want America to recognize and accept the rights of all the marginalized groups who are the real victims. They believe in helping poor people get their financial footing and giving them opportunities to form businesses, and taxing the rich is a justifiable way to accomplish these ends which will make America, an nation of immigrants, much stronger. And they want to make America safer, particularly although not only for children, who now die from gunshots more than any other method.
Law and Order
Democrats want the police to serve and protect without prejudice and they want to see reform and justice administered evenly without false convictions, endless incarceration and murders of blacks and Latinos.
According to Republicans, however, you can never have enough police and they must be allowed to do anything to “those” people without any accountability, let alone punishment. Simply by claiming that they “feared for their lives”, the catchall excuse, everything the police do should be covered. Republicans fantasize that the police should bash the heads or shoot to kill any non-white person (who is always accused of being a rapist, thief or criminal in waiting) even as the result of a simple traffic stop. If the pre-chosen suspect survives, lock them up in cruel, private prisons, the better to make money off of them. Deny them the return of their voting rights if they are ever released, thus ensuring the elimination of their rights even long after they have paid society’s price.
Lifestyle, Health, the Environment and Culture
Republicans eat steaks and instruct everyone to drink the original, sugar laden Coke and original non-light beer. They kneel and pray at the triple altars of coal, gas and oil, and view pollution of the air and water as no big deal even if nothing is left for future generations. They want to continue stripping the forests and drilling for fossil fuels for short term profit. They consider disappearing glaciers as non-existent problems or climate change conspiracies. They scoff at educational, employment and housing desegregation as against the rights of whites.
Democrats eat salad, get their vaccinations and drink unprocessed juice when they are not experimenting with the joys of ethnic food. They logically plan for the needed growth of windmills, solar power and electric cars. They plant trees and worry about the increasingly obvious devastation that is clearly arriving with global warming. They want fair advancement opportunities for blacks, Latinos, women and gays who should be allowed to make their own decisions on who they want to marry and where they want to live. Democrats march and protest, chanting resistance and displaying the gay pride flag.
Republicans, on the other hand, usually have no problem with fat Americans if they are MAGA, and state that they are for healthy foods unless, of course, such diet changes eat into the profits of the companies whose stock they own (while ironically a fat Republican president calls other politicians fat). Football and NASCAR are important while science and medicine must be questioned and disbelieved. There is no drug problem, only a problem with Latin American drug runners (or mere fisherman accused of drug smuggling without evidence), who must be summarily executed. Sex education is an anti-religious, socialist plot. Gays must be denied service from public businesses. White people should have more kids and women are supposed to bear children but shut up, according to laws created almost solely by old, white men. Women should even be forced to have a baby when it is conceived through rape or incest; it is irrelevant if they are only twelve or thirteen years old.
Democrats are aware of their blood pressure and cholesterol. They drive hybrids and electric vehicles. They use contraceptives and believe in sex education and a woman’s right to choose what happens to her body and her life. They believe in advances in science, engineering, technology and medicine. They smoke weed.
Democrats listen to blues and jazz, classical, new wave, hip hop and rap. Republicans worship country music and the national anthem only.
Democrats in theory and perhaps even statistically, live longer. Maybe so, Republicans might reply, but Republicans have more risky fun.
BDE
Democrats don’t have BDE (Big Dick Energy) even if their constituents might. Democrats (the party of blacks and many Latinos who traditionally hold sex and family dear) take great pains to tuck their aggression away and run from anything that would get them accused of misogyny. This is fine and actually correct in a sense. They want to always be perceived as peaceful and supportive of women. But Democrats avoid flaunting their testosterone in other ways, even to counter the opposition who is bragging about their extra manhood (that they don't actually have) since Democrats fear being left open to Republicans calling them hypersexual pedophiles (which Republicans don't hesitate to say anyway).
Democrats do not brawl better than Republicans. They are not relentless in driving home their points and they are always holding back. They are polite and avoid being sexist.
Republicans tell themselves and their base that they are the only ones with BDE, domestically and on the world stage when it comes to waging wars on foreign soil, which they believe is always preferable to negotiations and compromise.
A Republican president who possesses an old, gray haired, shriveled penis under his enormous stomach mounds, which are filled with McDonald’s take outs, doesn’t hide that he is into porn stars, grabbing pussy (sexual assault) and wallowing in whore piss while supposedly being religious. The candidate accused of having small hands, during the Republican presidential debate in 2016, essentially replied on national television that he had a big dick (of course, without ever having to prove it, the same tactic guys with micro-penises always use). He won the presidency.
Leadership
Democrats have no national, youthful leader as presidential candidate who inspires unlimited passion in them and who embodies the best future for the nation.
Republicans have no leader who is actually intelligent and capable without being criminal, racist and/or misogynistic, someone who can reach out to the country as a whole instead of using division as the path to control of the nation.
Victory
To be victorious, Republicans must not assume that the country will never tire of insults, manipulation, false advertising and relentless lying. They must not be convinced that their base is so devoted that they can never lose as long as they keep them whipped up with hot contempt for others and sheer hostility.
To be victorious, Democrats cannot rely solely on the occasional, often inadequate roused fury of their base. They must jettison their lovely idealistic approach, and stop worry about dozens of issues that get easily attacked and used to mock them or as diversions, or lost in the minds of citizens who don’t always rank all issues as equal in priority. Democrats must get down in the trenches, fire back overwhelmingly with their own brand of “shock and awe” as if it is total warfare. They must command absolute, unconditional respect and act more than their opponents as though the country’s future is at at stake.
There are always individuals in each party that deviate from Democratic or Republican dogma. They mostly haven’t been found yet.
