Photography and writing are among the definitions of my life. I have far more photographs, spanning more than four and a half decades, than could ever be contained in one site, with many images appearing in photo essays. In addition, I have written over 500 articles, autobiographical and biographical essays and short stories, as well as more than 500 poems, all accompanied by original photographs. This primary website provides an introduction to my work, with examples of photographs, descriptions of essays and poems, and selected articles.
I have created several additional online collections that contain my visual work and writings. The other sites are characterized by specific themes and focus primarily on historical photojournalism, urban life, architecture/cityscapes/nature and portraits/nudes.
Special Note: To maintain this website as public, it excludes my stronger images (portraits/nudes. self-portraits), political-social images and writings, and essays and poems on life and death, race, and love and sexuality. These topics are explored on my non-public websites. Access is available on request from individuals, photographers, organizations and institutions in the creative industries.
